I am putting together a list of different tips for gardening that don't use chemicals to keep pests away and to keep weeds down. This from someone who can't even keep a Golden Pathos alive. If any of you have anything to add, please do. ********************************************* To keep weeds from growing in a garden, put several layers of newspaper down, then cover with wood chips. The newspaper lets the water seep through, the sun can't reach the ground underneath so the weeds don't grow. The wood chips keep the paper down.
To keep cats from using your plants for a litter box, place moth balls next to your plants. (This may work for other critters as well.)
To keep aphids from nibbling on your plants, plant Marigolds in the same bed. Spray a mixture of dish soap and water on plants that have aphids.
To keep plants that are cut back in the fall from freezing during the winter, pile up leaves over them.
