Ok this is based on true events in my own life but is going to end when the main character is at an age Im not at yet. So basically its starting out true but ends as fiction. Anyway I am also going to write a script version for a movie or something like that. Let me know if it would be worth it or better or worse.
Blessings of Misfortune[/u] (working title)
Chapter 1:
The night chilled to the bone as the starry sky made my mind clear. The moon shone down on the cluttered path that lay before me. I had to concentrate on the foliage and rocks that lined the path making sure that I would not trip. Every step felt a little lighter as the cold breeze struck my quivering hands. I quickly shoved them in the pockets of my blue jeans as I dropped my head lower so the hood of my grey sweatshirt would keep my face warm. I reached my oasis at the top of the mountain that overlooked all of North Phoenix. It really wasn’t much to look at; just a bunch of city lights along the horizon, but it was still the place I called home. I pulled my hood off as I ran my fingers through my short brown hair letting the breeze whisper across my ears. My dark brown eyes reflected the city that I loved so much as my tall skinny build quivered beneath the little clothing I had on. I made my perch among a large rock as my white tennis shoes danced across it. I marveled at the manmade beauty that lay before me. I slowly let the wind chill the heat that had been boiling my heart as I sat on my boulder and thought in the way I had done one hundred times before in this spot. It seemed that my thoughts echoed across the horizon as I tried to sort them out but luck would not have me. Every thought only brought on a harder one.
Soon my cell phone began to ring as I tried to ignore it. I looked at the caller ID and wondered if I should answer it. I sat there thinking to myself and soon answered it with only silence. After a few seconds of silence, a comforting yet yielding voice could be heard on the other end. “Chris? Are you there?” After realizing that I couldn’t avoid it for very much longer, I answered with the best fake smile that I could.
“Hey, I’m right here.” I answered “What are you up to?”
“Nothing much. What’s wrong?” she said. It was hard to hide things from this one.
“Nothing, Danielle, I’m fine.” I retorted trying not to sound worried or frantic. “I’ve just got some stuff on my mind. It’s okay just thinking is all.”
“Well whatcha thinking about?” She asked politely with a strain of worry in her voice.
“Well…” I was silent after that. I didn’t really want to talk about it because I was still trying to figure things out myself. “…it’s nothing. Really, I’m fine.”
“NO YOU ARENT!!” She yelled into the phone. I forgot that this girl could read me pretty well. I tried to keep those chapters hidden but she always seemed to find them. “C’mon talk to me, please.” She said with the sincerity in her voice that could make any person give in; any person except me that is.
“No really I am fine. I just have a lot on my mind is all.” I lied trying not to worry her.
“Christopher Young Whitaker, you better tell me before…” The phone went silent for a few moments. “Oh nuts, my boyfriend is calling me. Can I call you back? We aren’t finished here either mister.” She said as I let out a sigh of relief.
“Yea, sure, just call me back whenever.” I said in a relieved tone waiting for her to go away so I could go back to my solitude. She hung up the phone and I went back to my thinking. I started to reflect on the past and the events that I kept on this mountain nightly. Every thought traced it back to a simple event. I stood up from my rock and imagined the ocean waves spraying my face once more. They calmed me back then and were working again. I slowly walked forward letting my feet bury into the imaginary grains of sand but they felt real enough. I slowly swayed back and forth in a rhythm with the ocean that crashed along the shores of my soul. I was brought back to reality as my phone began to ring again. I quickly answered “Hello?” without bothering to check who it was. A familiar voice spoke as I was deafened by the cracking of my soul that boomed throughout my entire body.
Chapter 2:
It was a warmer winter’s day in Phoenix, Arizona as the gang filed into the worn out minivan we used to get around. It belonged to Don, the driver, who spent his sweet time getting his fat ass out to the car. He walked out in his dirty green shorts that seemed to mock the cold December month we lived in. He grabbed his tiny girlfriend we all called Twiggy and looked her in her brown eyes with his blue and landed her a big kiss. She was dressed more comfortably in a pair of blue jeans and a long sleeved sweater as her long brown hair seemed to fall gracefully along Don. She clinged to his army camouflage jacket for warmth and ran her fingers through his brown hair as we all stood impatiently around the van. I clung to my black work shirt as a breeze blew by but quickly removed it so that everyone could see the witty shirt and the saying I was wearing. I shoved my hands into the pockets of my worn blue jeans looking to make sure I got everything I needed. Andre, our quiet one, began to get into the back of the van after Don opened it. He tried to keep warm in his fashionable jacket and his button up shirt but he shuddered to the rhythm of the wind blowing across his small body. He pulled whatever he could over his short black hair as he closed his pain-filled brown eyes. Greg, the marine, filed in shortly after, mocking the rest of us wearing his usual worn green t-shirt and baggy blue jeans. He was the reason behind the trip as we were returning him to his marine base in 29 Palms. Then she got in. Her flowing red locks waved in the breeze as she giggled at the pressing trip. She wore torn jeans and a thin grey sweatshirt with a black band t-shirt underneath. A flip-flop fell off as she got in the car so she put it back on. She stood at a comfortable height for any man and was gorgeous to boot. She had beautiful green eyes that seemed to stare deep into your very soul. Her smile, adorned by tacky looking braces, would bring any man to his knees as also a truly almost hourglass figure to accompany such glowing beauty. As you can tell, I was crazy about her. I didn’t think about anything more than her and what she did to me. We were also making a side trip to the beach, a place she had never seen and dreamt about since she was a child. I made a promise to her and I was sure to keep it. After piling into the car, we all proceeded to get comfortable as Don headed out to the beginning of our destination. After stopping to get some snackage, a bucket of Licorice, several bags of potato chips, and some Honey Buns, we quickly headed off. We began the trip with laughter. Well at least they did. I was too busy staring out the window and thinking of the events that had and were about to take place. I got so confused about everything I lost contact to where I was. (unfinished)
